Zoom VS. Teams

Coronavirus has many people working from home. Working remotely can come with a price if not done right. While there are many ways to communicate, email, phone calls, texting, etc., Zoom and Microsoft Teams have been competing for the top spot for staying in touch. If you do your research you will find that there are many options when it comes to video conferencing. However, not all video conference platforms are the same.

Communication is always key, especially if we cannot communicate face to face. That is why it is most important to choose a platform that will help benefit you, your employees and your organization as a whole. It is important to choose a video conferencing platform that is safe and secure when it comes down to your business’s information.

While Zoom is a popular platform that is being used by many, Microsoft Teams includes many tools that Zoom does not. From a business standpoint, Microsoft Teams can allow communication through video calls, private chats, group chats, meetings, and much more.

Zoom:

Zoom is a platform that allows video and audio conferencing, chat, and webinars across mobile devices, desktops, telephones, and room systems. Zoom has collaboration tools like screen-sharing and the ability to record meetings. While all of this seems to check off multiple boxes, Zoom has been in the media recently, and not for something as positive as we would like to see. Zoom has potentially leaked the private information of thousands of users. The platform has also allowed strangers to have the ability to invite others to a video conference without permission from the user. Important information and conversations are meant to be kept confidential. While Zoom might seem like the right fit for your business, it could also hinder it.

Microsoft Teams:

Microsoft Teams is perfect for an organization that wants multiple tools to keep communication flowing throughout. Teams can integrate with a vast variety of other Microsoft tools and promote a more collaborative workplace.

Teams brings all components of a workplace together and allow for collaboration and communication when it is not easily accessible through person to person contact. Video conferencing is a solution and the closest thing an organization can get to “face-to-face” communication.

Not only can you communicate effectively through teams, but you can also share files you might not have been able to access outside of your office. Teams has a feature that allows easy access to important documents you may need to take care of.
