Mobile Computing & Video Over Mobile Trends: What’s Coming Our Way?

As to what happened until now, it’s already overwhelming. Businesses find it difficult to the changes that Internet witnesses. Add Hardware, Virtual Computing, Nano Computing, Laptops, Ultra Books, Web Applications, and Operating systems for each Mobile device such as MAC OS X, Android, and Windows.

There are trends in computing, hardware, software, shareware, and webware. We know it can be overwhelming. That’s why we advise our to clients to take a piecemeal approach to applying technology to business.

One of the trends that’s seriously going to affect most small, medium, and large enterprises this year is going to be mobile computing. The trends are not just in the U.S – the whole of South East Asia is far ahead on say, Google Searches, compared to the number of searches conducted in the U.S, U.K, Australia, and New Zealand.

Garner reports that Android already powers half of the phones in the world. According to Maravedis, Symbian will lose the race totally to Android, iPhone, and Windows.

Cisco swears by its study “Visual Networking Index: Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update, 2010-2015” that video traffic is just ballooning incessantly. Mobile video traffic was estimated to be 49.8 % of the total mobile traffic towards the end of the year 2010.

According to Gartner, a lot of this has to do with trends such as BYOD ( bring your own device) policies that companies are increasingly taking to, consumerization, falling prices and increasing capacities of mobile phones or other devices, etc.

Further, mobile applications are making many things even simpler. Do you want to edit that report? Fire up that application. How about viewing the product details before approaching the customer? Access your company network (or perhaps download it to your phone) and read it while waiting in the lobby – you see where we are getting to, don’t you?

Touch capabilities, voice commands, better phone or device interfaces, and better hardware will push the prevailing trend even more. Networks will be beefed up to support this trend.

A seemingly unimaginable amount of data needs to be processed, video and audio has to be enabled; desktops, virtual desktops, laptops, ultra books, netbooks, and mobile devices (including phones and tablets).

A huge wave of technology, all of this!
