Heads up for Trends 2012: What’s Coming Up and What You Need to Do

Consider this: According to a Gartner report, over 30 billion pieces of content went live on Facebook in one month alone, The worldwide Internet users will explode to about 4 times the current base size by the year 2015. More than a whopping 2 billion videos were watched on Youtube alone. Twitter has it’s average user perform 32 billion searches in one month.

What does it all tell you?  Here are a few trends you can’t ignore in 2012 and beyond:

Embrace the new media

It’s a world of iPads and iPhones. Laptops and desktops will continue to be the staple. Howver, the era of Windows PC dominance as we know it might come to an end. Smartphones and tablets will be ubiquitous. By 2012, iOS and Android are expected to dominate 80% of the tablet market according to CIO.com.

Context-aware Computing

Tomorrow’s computing is going to be aware, suggestive and highly smart. Content aware computing is all about using information about users – their preferences, their likes, etc – and improves engagement. 40% of the smartphone users all over the world will all use context services through Google, Microsoft, and Apple.

Internet is everything; and everything is Internet

In the future, it’s not just computers, smartphones and laptops. Almost all technological contraptions will be IP based. Electricity, surveillance (IP cameras and surveillance equipment already exist), remote sensing, and almost anything else that’s digital will be connected to the Internet. Central Unified Management will certainly be a requirement then.

Big data is a big reality
We already wrote about Big data and the role it plays in business. It’s a significant challenge for IT companies today. Technologies such as Apache Hadoop are already poised to handle extreme data. These technologies, however, need skilled manpower for business to tap into.

Super networks

Of course, to handle all of the above technologies, your present network needs to be juiced up. Super networks will be a reality with a lot of processing power, more bandwidth for the content to flow, more powerful computers, superior switches and routers, etc. The networks of the future will just be able to handle all the content flow that modern businesses have to deal with.

The good news is that we, at the Network Pro, are all set to deal with the future. Not only that, we are well equipped. We could help you develop a strategy to position yourself for the future, build networks ( or scale up your present network) to suit the demands of the future, and much more.
