5 Tips to Stay Productive While Working from Home During Covid-19

Millions of people all over the world are in quarantine due to the sudden coronavirus outbreak. With governments restricting access to public spaces, people are forced to stay at home and work remotely until the situation is under control. If you’ve never worked from home before, it might be challenging to get used to being productive in a comfortable environment. Here are a few tips to help you move along!

#1 Get Up Early

Not having to go outside and commute to work seems like the perfect time to get lazy and start enjoying long hours on the couch. However, you shouldn’t let this change affect your ordinary schedule. Just because you have an opportunity to sleep in every day, it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to do so. By getting up early every morning, you will have a fresh start to the day, which will motivate you to feel more productive. Make getting up early your first victory for the day and don’t let anything get in the way of a healthy sleep schedule.

#2 Confine Your Workspace

As tempting as it sounds to work in your bed or on the comfy couch, you will quickly find yourself losing focus and dozing off. That’s a natural reaction since areas such as the bedroom and the living room are designed for relaxation. Instead of making it more difficult for yourself, you can make working from home easier by dedicating an area to nothing but work activities. This can be a separate room or a corner if you’re short on space. Make sure to clean up your work area and get rid of unnecessary clutter to start feeling more productive.

#3 Create a Schedule

The best way to stay productive day in and day out when working from home is to create a strict schedule. If you were used to working a 9-to-5 shift at the office, you can continue the same habit at home. As long as you have strict work hours, you will be less likely to procrastinate and put off important work. After all, you don’t want to lose any good habits you’ve built up until this point.

#4 Set Time Limits

When working from home, you won’t have co-workers and bosses walking around and checking your every move. Instead, it is your responsibility to stay on track with your assignments and deliver on time. The more time you give yourself to complete something, the longer it will take to get it done. Instead of wasting time on procrastination, set time limits for each task throughout the day and start accomplishing things faster.

#5 Communicate with Family Members

Last but not least, we must not forget that working from home also means being surrounded by family members all the time. Regardless of how much you love spending time with family, you shouldn’t let them distract you while doing work. That’s why it is important to communicate openly with your family members and let them know at what time you will be busy with work.

The whole idea of self-quarantine and social distancing can be a lot to take in so suddenly. However, the only way to get out of this situation as winners is to make the best out of it by staying organized and productive. Instead of panicking about the unexpected changes, look at them as an opportunity to learn new skills and expand your capabilities. We don’t know how long the social distancing scenario will last so it’s better to get used to it sooner than later!
